Sustainable Organic Gardening and Farming
Grow Green Aquaponics 2012

What is aquaponics?

Aquaponics is the combination of aquaculture and hydroponics.

In aquaponics, you grow fish and plants. The fish grow in a fish tank or pond, the veggies grow on rafts floating on the water in a trough, the water flows from the fish tank to the trough where the plants are floating and the roots are suspended or hanging down into the water then back to the fish.

The fish waste provides an all natural food source

for the plants and the plants provide a natural filter for the water the fish live in. Aquaponics produces safe, fresh, fish and veggies.

You can do aquaponics as a garden or as a commercial farm.
